Books: First Attempt

In the comments to my last post, a few people asked how I was planning to fill all the empty shelves in my bookcases. Realizing this was a sensible question, I decided to try my hand at making miniature books. These are my first attempts.

I plan to eventually use many different materials and make lots of different sizes of books, so I should have a lot of variety on these shelves. I'll probably buy some, too. I have a lot of shelves to fill!

  1. They look really good! I love that you did the patterned paper on the inside covers... it just gives it that extra oomph! -ara

  3. Wow! My first attempts at books didn't look anywhere near that good! If you just want blank books, sometimes it's worth buying those inexpensive books with awful leather covers (you can get a dozen for about $2), ripping the covers off, and giving them better bindings. It gives you the same results as the old tried and true method of cutting down and covering a note pad, but without most of the hassle.

  4. Very nice! I think your readers need to know how much you enjoy making miniature accessories; that you're building the house just so you can make the tiny stuff to go in it. Right? Otherwise, I think you're going to get lots of quicker-making ideas. Unless maybe you are interested in those as well. I agree with another poster, just how exactly did these go together?

  5. Yes, show us how you make them. The covers are awesome! Knowing what a perfectionist you are, you are likely to move to only readable books and books that are only available during that era..lol. Like me. I only made 20 but will need close to 1000. So will you, looking at the extent of your library.

  6. Thanks so much everyone! Okay, I'll try to do a post showing how I made them. And Sans already knows me too well, lol! I have indeed been thinking about how I can make them with readable text!
